There are three things
that Andy and Terri consider to be most important to a good performance
come race day and Trysport can assist you with all of these:
1. The right training program
- Are you training the right energy systems?
Are you improving on strengths AND weaknesses? Do you know which
specific sessions should be done to take on the uniquely flat
Busselton course? We cater for the new novice right through to
the old-timer who has raced for years and wants some variety in
their tried and true training regime.
- Here are some examples of a multi-sport programme
(overview program and weekly
program), general strength programme, core stability and flexibility.
2. Max Heart Rate Testing
- Working in the right heart rate zone is essential
both in training for AND competing in the Half Ironman. The only
way to ensure that you are working at the correct heart rates
is to have your max heart rate tested as this provides the ranges
which you will use in training and racing. We offer various Testing
services to allow the athlete to monitor their progress in their
training or to provide accurate Pace/Intensity determinants. If
you want to train smart and get the best results from your training,
regular and appropriate testing will provide you with valuable
information to reach your desired level of fitness and make the
best use of your training time.
3. Correct bike setup
- Comfort in the aero position is crucial on
the Busselton Half Ironman course. If your bike is not set up
correctly it will have a massive impact on your bike and run times
on race day. And naturally a professional bike setup ensures that
you are comfortable when training as well! In order for you to
be comfortable and efficient on your bike, it is important to
have a bike that is the correct size and adjusted for your particular
proportions, flexibility, riding style and race application. We
can set you up to accommodate any special requirements or conditions.
Trysport offers three different positioning sessions
depending on your requirements and goals.
1. Basic Session
The Basic Session incorporates a general observation of your position,
making adjustments where required. This session will set you up
in a comfortable and efficient position.
This session takes 30 minutes and costs $50
2. Intermediate Session
The Intermediate Session includes observation with a more detailed
analysis of your position. Using our Cycling Analysis System, I
analyze the efficiency of your position. Changes may include saddle
position (height, fore/aft, angle), handlebar/aerobar position (height,
extension, angle) and foot/cleat position (fore/aft, lateral, rotation).
This session allows for more time to be spent making adjustments.
It takes 60-75 minutes and costs $150
3. Advanced Session
The Advanced Session incorporates all of the components of the Intermediate
Session along with the use of the Cycling Analysis System, Heart
Rate Max Testing, pedaling technique & power output analysis
(Critical Power Test).
This session takes 90-120 minutes and costs $200
What You Need
Cycling shorts, jersey, cycling shoes, pedals (with new cleats),
heart rate monitor (when applicable) and of course, your bike.
N.B. bring aero bars along if race/use application demands their
fit.
Fit and Positioning
What could be worse than investing in a bike that
doesn't fit you? Its not uncommon for cyclists to purchase bikes
that don’t fit them or are not suitable for the application.
If you are planning on purchasing a new bike, I can give you the
dimensions of the bike you will need, including all the finer details
of the attachments and accessories to the bike itself. I spend a
lot of time working on how cyclists/triathletes and their bikes
fit together. I will make sure that your bike not only fits you,
but you have an optimal position for maximizing pedaling efficiency
and power output.

Sport Specific Strength Conditioning
Strength training can help to fortify your bodies
muscles and connective tissues against the likelihood of injury
and improve your functional strength and power in your chosen sport.
The exercises in the program should be specific
to the movement patterns associated within the sport and if the
program is designed with this in mind, will be most beneficial to
the athlete.
Andrew Budge specializes in sport specific strength
training for many different sports and can also advise on rehabilitation
exercise regimes as well as appropriate core stability routines.
TRYSPORT is a modern fully equipped Gymnasium.
